Level A2 - 20 Common Irregular French Verbs with Pronouns - Present Tense
In this lesson you will practice using direct and indirect object pronouns and Y and EN as you review present tense conjugations of twenty common irregular French verbs. Lots of practice cards and audio resources are included, so you can be sure you pronounce everything correctly. Read the steps below to see all of the different ways you can use the included materials.
Included:
- Conjugation review chart - 20 verbs
- Audio - Conjugations - 20 separate files for you to listen and repeat as you review these verbs
- Blank chart - Write the conjugations and make sure you remember all of them
- 120 practice cards - A different sentence is written on each card, and you have to conjugate the verb in parentheses AND replace the underlined words with pronouns: LE - LA - LES - LUI - LEUR - Y - EN
- Practice cards answer key - Check your work, and read the English translations of each sentence
- Audio - Practice cards - All 120 sentences from the cards are read slowly, giving you time to listen and repeat. The first sentence is read without pronoun replacement, and the second one is read using the correct pronoun.
This lesson is included in my FRENCH PROGRAM FOR SELF-LEARNERS .
Step 1: Download your conjugation chart and keep it as a handy reference as you move on to STEP 2.
Step 2: Use the 20 audio recordings to listen and repeat each conjugation. Read along on your conjugation chart.
Step 3: Download your blank conjugation chart. When you're ready, listen to the audio again and fill in the chart. Check your work to be sure you've spelled everything correctly.
Step 4: Still using your blank conjugation chart, fill it in without listening to the audio. Can you remember all of the irregular conjugations? Be sure to check your work using the chart from STEP 1.
Step 5: Use your set of 120 practice cards to see many ways to use these verbs in sentences. Each sentence includes underlined words that can be replaced with pronouns: LE - LA - LES - LUI - LEUR - Y - EN. Read the sentences aloud, do your best with pronunciation (I'll help you with that in STEP 6), and conjugate the infinitive in parentheses. Next, read the sentence aloud again replacing the underlined words with the appropriate pronoun. Check your work using the answer key provided, and you can also read the English translations. Take note of all the new vocabulary you will learn!
Step 6: Practice and improve your pronunciation and fluency while listening to audio recordings of all 120 practice cards. Use your answer key to read along as you listen and repeat each sentence. The recordings are divided into groups of 10 sentences each to make the exercise more manageable.
Step 7: Listen to the audio recordings of the practice cards again, and this time try to repeat without looking at your answer sheet. If you've followed all of the steps (maybe even several times) you will feel confident and familiar with the content, and you will be ready for success! Repeat this step often!
